Two Clarkson students have excelled in their studies - one in science and the other in maths - and the school has also achieved well in environmental studies.

Year 8 student Nathan Tan (13) came second in the Science Talent Search for his investigation into evaporation.

Described as a quiet, conscientious student, he investigated evaporation rates of water, with different covers to determine the evaporation rates.

Year 9 student Jeremy Kostic's enthusiasm and desire to work out complex mathematical theories saw him placed in the 100th percentile in WA in the Australian Mathematics Competition, narrowly missing out on winning the prize money.

In other achievements, 18 students from Year 9 came first in the City of Wanneroo's award for environmental excellence, wining $1000 for their environment project on November 1.

That project saw them create a calendar while investigating the impact of urbanisation on their school. They also made a herbarium with plants from surrounding bushland.

The calendar, sold to residents, offers information on sustainable gardening and tips on how to grow native plants
